The Story

Artist Ed Masterson

Ed Masterson, is a World Renown abstract artist, photographer and musician. www.edwardmasterson.photoshelter.com

His journey into the arts and the congas, began in the early sixties.

The vibrant sound of the congas which he loved were heightened with visits to the Jazz Clubs in Philly.  Peps, The Cadillac and The Blue Note. Those live performances of Mongo, Cal, Herbie and Patato, sealed his passion for Latin Jazz and the congas.

Ed started hand painting his own conga drums to capture that passion he had for the music.

Through a series of trials and errors experimenting with a Jackson Pollack splash painting approach, Masterson eventually developed a unique technique of blending and curing paint onto the drums. Thus ABSTRACT CONGAS was created, the art of blending sight and sound.

Ed realized that the randomness of the paint splashing onto a canvas drop cloth also formed a unique surreal image. Thus the accompanying Abstract Paintings. Ed likes to think of it as capturing in the paintings the soul of each drum and a perfect visual compliment for each Abstract Conga!

Your Abstract Conga will capture the sound and visual presence on the stage, concert hall or club, rising you above the mundane. Enjoy!
